Paper - This study was undertaken to facilitate a greater
understanding of the characteristics and use of remittances by recipient
households. This is related with the possibilities of promoting investment
of remittances in income generating activities in support of local economic
development in the two pilot regions: Vlore and Durres.

Durres -
The aim of the survey was to identify the characteristics of
the recipients and remittances, including their use by the recipient households,
the channels through which they are transferred and the fi nancial services
available in the Durres’s areas.

Vlora -
Specifically the study will provide a comprehensive overview
over household use of remittances and the potential for increasing investments
of remittances for productive purposes. Furthermore, the study will identify
a set of measures, mechanisms and initiatives that can facilitate the
investment of remittances in income generating activities, by promoting
local regional and national economic development. |

REMITTANCES AND FINANCIAL
PRODUCTS IN ALBANIA - This survey seeks to shed light
on what is currently offered by the Albanian financial system with regard
to remittances and recommends that all interest groups take a pro-active
attitude toward and monitor the remittance market attentively. |

and services they can benefit from. |

COMPETING FOR REMITTANCES
- The objective of this study is to provide the Government of Albania
input to the National Strategy on Migration and the subsequent National
Action Plan. This study has two broad areas of inquiry: (a) the extent
and scope of remittance flows, and their transfer process, (b) the potential
of enhancing the impact of remittances’ on economic growth and development. |

HOW TO INVEST IN ALBANIA
- With its developing market economy, Albania offers many opportunities
for investors - property and labor costs are low. The young and educated
population is ready to work, and tariffs and other legal restrictions
are low in many cases and being eliminated in others. . |
